this didnt work for me. Although I was able to run the command successfully, it still didnt boot into windows vista. I did notice that when I hit the repair button and entered System Recovery Options, there was no operating system (Vista) shown. It gives you the option then to load the drivers for the hard disk but could not locate anything (not sure what to look for).

The C: drive is still functioning as I was able to access it from the command prompt.

Please help.

The information provided by the admin is accurate and true. But if for some reason it doesnt fix your NTDLR is missing error message. I would highly recommend this method suggested by user JamesLeon posted on microsoft answers here : http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-hardware/ntldr-is-missing-on-vista/9dbd22a3-5bc7-4a3b-b659-5a287ee4ba84

It took four nights to realise the 32 bit bootable disc I had was corrupt (so I was trying 64 bit fixes). Made a new 32-bit bootable disc and then just 4 seconds at the command prompt and BINGO! My wife is very happy to have her laptop back in action. We thank you very much.
