How to fix non-working keyboard on IBM Blades

If your keyboard stopped working on IBM blades then there could be some problem with kvm card installed on the Blade.I have this situation when all of sudden keyboard control stopped working from AMM web console, I was trying to change the IBM HS21 Blade boot order and to get into boot sequence i have to use keyboard to get into BIOS settings at the boot time.. guess what keyboard control just doesn’t work. This was strange because i am running latest firmware on my IBM HS21 blades.
Sometimes restarting Bladecenter management module can be a easy solution to fix the non-working keyboard. However if you had tried restating MM or Advanced management module (MM) but still you can’t use keyboard then you are really stuck, here is a fix that might work for you .
If everything fails try updating the Baseboard management controller (BMC) firmware. On HS21 IBM blades you can follow directions on how to update the BMC firmware here on sysdigg. This solution worked for me, if you are in similar situation where keyboard is not working on IBM Blade servers you can try this fix – this fix can work for you
