Tesla Motors unveiled Model S sedan prototype on March 26, 2009 in one of it’s manufacturing plant in California , that was big really event in Green Technology.Tesla Motors Model S is fully electric, zero-emission car that will comes with 17 inch touch screen with 3G wireless connectivity which will allow drivers to check Google maps, listening to internet radio, also Model S 3G connectivity will allow drivers to monitor Charging capacity using iPhone, other cell phone devices or via wireless equipped laptops.

Tesla Motors four-door Sedan comes with seven seat arrangement and starts at a base price of $57,400 , costs around $49,900 after a $7,500 federal tax credit.It’s estimated that the Tesla Model S will lay down zero-to-60 miles per hour in less than 6 seconds and have an electronically limited top speed of 135 mph.Google co-founders Larry Page and Brin showed huge interest in Tesla Motors and invested in the company. Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk who was co-founder of Paypal and SpaceX , stated that once Tesla Motors Model S will enter into production it will cost around $35,000 . Model S will comes with different battery options – 160-, 230- or 300-miles/charge range with varying prices based on battery options.The standard battery pack on the Model S will have an estimated 160-mile range. A bigger, optional battery pack will offer a range of up to 300 miles. Tesla also promises the sedan will feature a 45-minute “fast charge” and the ability to swap battery packs quickly, wow that’s not bad.

Tesla hopes the Model S will become the first mass-produced electric sedan. Tesla Motor company anticipates a release date in the third quarter of 2011, and an expected annual production of 20,000 units by mid-2012.The Model S interior features two touch-screen control interfaces. The Model S will be fitted with wireless Internet capability, and Tesla claims it will be able to remotely diagnose and even fix any problems that might arise with the car. My worst fear i hope it will not be running Windows OS 7, although running Linux OS would be really impressive.

VMware View Linux client installation on Linux distributions requires several package dependencies if you are compiling the source code. You can download the VMware view Linux client source tarball from google code and find more information on VMware View Linux client Wiki. I have installed the VMware View client on RHEL 5 using the RPM Package. On RHEL 5 Linux installing the VMware View Linux client requires the rdesktop package, if you don’t have rdesktop package installed on Red Hat enterprise Linux then you will get error on installing rdesktop package.

1. You can install rdesktop package on RHEL 5 using yum command to resolve the dependencies :

The streamline editor (sed) is very useful command for searching and replacing string/texts in multiple files As an example i am going to show you how i have used sed on my Linux web server. I have hundreds of file under a linux directory where i want to search and replace word mysql with mysql in single file intro.html using sed editor

<colgroup>
<col style="width: 534px;"></col>
</colgroup>

$ sed -i ‘s/mssql/mysql/g’ intro.html

In the above command

sed -i is used to for editing the file

-s is used for subsituite the following text/word

-mssql is the word to be replaced by

-myssql is what you would like replace

-g is used for global search, looking for occurrence of text in all the lines in file

To replace word mssql with mysql in multiple files using sed editor run sed like this :

<colgroup>
<col style="width: 534px;"></col>
</colgroup>

$ sed -i ‘s/mssql/mysql/g’ *.html

In Linux and UNIX sed command is available with default installation, However if you are a Micsrosoft Windows user , you can still harness power of sed by installing GNU utilities for Win32

Dell servers support running Linux and there is cool command that you can run to find the Dell Service Tag. This is helpful if your Data center is located remotely and for placing hardware call to Dell you need to find the Dell server Service Tag number. I had a situation one time when I had to place a call with Dell to replace the disk drive, server was running RHEL5 AS. Running dmidecode saved me a trip to my datacenter. This magic command is located under /usr/sbin directory.

For Linux beginners or windows administrator some time simple tasks sounds pretty big and boring one of these tasks is to find out what device drivers are loaded into running Linux kernel. However for Solaris administrators displaying loaded device drivers or kernel modules in Linux is pretty easy job.

You need to know if particular device driver is loaded into Linux kernel or not, for example when I was working on configuring VLAN on Linux I noted that 8021q VLAN driver wasn’t loaded by default. Here is how you can find out in Linux if particular device driver or modules are loaded and which device drivers are not loaded by running few simple commands. You may need to know this for several reasons for example if your USB or Bluetooth device doesn’t work in Linux then you need to find out if Bluetooth and USB device drivers are loaded into your Linux kernel.

In Red Hat enterprise/CentOS and fedora you can run lsmod command to display loaded kernel modules or device drivers.
