vim (vi) in Cygwin on Windows 7

Recently my friend tried installing Cygwin on his new Dell E6500 Latitude laptop which runs Windows 7 ultimate edition. He installed Cygwin on Windows 7 and had no issues running it but he couldn’t find Vim or Vi editor in Cygwin.

Where is VIM or vi editor in Cygwin ?

VI editor or vi is not installed by default in Cygwin, unless you know it doesn’t get selected for installation. Here is the tip for Cygwin newbie when you get ready to install cygwin select the VIM editor package and then once you are done with installation you should be able to find the vi in your path.
